Allen Coats Meadors (born May 17, 1947) is an American higher education educator and administrator currently working in higher education in Northern Italy)(1). He has served as president/chancellor of three US state universities. Penn State Altoona (Feb.1994-June 1999)(3); ]; Chair of Department of Health Administration, [[University of Oklahoma; Executive Director of the Northwest Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute(NARTI). He is chancellor emeritus of the University of North Carolina-Pembroke (UNCP). During his tenure at UNCP, the campus student enrollment grew from less than 3,000 to nearly 7,000. Nearly $300 million in capital improvement occurred and an intercolleagiate football team was established. Endowned chairs increased from two to seven. A Honor College was established and the campus moved from being primarily a commuter campus to residential campus. An endowed chair in mathematics was established in his honor. == Early life and education ==
Meadors was born and raised in Van Buren, Arkansas. He graduated from Van Buren Senior High School where he was an honors student, class and student government officer. He was a three-year letterman in football, basketball and track. Meadors attended the University of Central Arkansas where he was a class officer and athletic letterman. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1969. He obtained a master's in business from the University of Northern Colorado (1974), a master's in public administration from the University of Kansas (1975), a master's in human relations from Webster University (1979), a master's in health services administration from Webster University (1980), and a Ph.D in higher education leadership from Southern Illinois University (1981). He also has an associate's degree in Computer Science from Saddleback College.
